Les Echos: Vincent Pelillo, Voice Search – the new challenges

The increasing commercialisation of voice assistants and the development of uses are impacting our digital advertising industry and pushing us to reinvent ourselves.

We are currently witnessing the explosion of voice assistants like Amazon Alexa or Google Home. In France, uses are still shy – only 13% of 18-34 year olds say they have already conducted a search via a connected speaker according to the Search Voice Barometer published by Search Foresight in September 2018 – the report Mary Meeker tells us that 30 million US homes were equipped with Amazon Echo at the end of 2017. This commercial development is impressive and has resulted in an unprecedented increase in requests made by voice, Voice Search. Comscore anticipates that in 2020, it will represent 50% of the total volume of requests made.
